Thinking about art

|

The third edition of the festival of Contemporary art will offer people a chance to look at artworks through the words of key figures from the world of art, and to reflect together about the process that an artwork goes through, from its conception to its creation, up to the moment when it meets the viewers, the exhibition space and society as a whole.

In addition to the artists, who form an essential part of the May event, the festival will also involve other important figures in the Thinking about art series. They will include important thinkers, art historians and curators, who together will reflect on the soul of works of art, and the message. They will discuss the history of several specific movements, and the analysis of the context in which artworks are created and displayed, their relationship with the exhibition space and the most interesting curatorial practices. Furthermore, they will talk about how the meaning of an artwork can develop and change, depending on the viewer, the moment in time and the type of interpretation. These are just a few of the opportunities for inspiration that Thinking about art will offer the public.

Massimo Recalcati and Paolo Fabbri will look at artworks from a psychological and semiotic perspective. Nora Alter, Gertrud Koch and Paolo Rosa will analyse, together with Pier Luigi Sacco, the latest trends in new media art, while Seth Siegelaub and Alexander Alberro will talk about works of art in the conceptual age with Carlos Basualdo. The latter will also take part in a debate with Hal Foster about the meaning of modern and contemporary culture, and together with Bernard Marcadè he will discuss the life, works and miracles of Marcel Duchamp.
