Sarah Thornton

She is the author of Seven Days in the Art World (Il Giro del Mondo dell'Arte in Sette Giorni), an international non-fiction hit, available in eleven languages. Through a series of day-in-the-life narratives, the book reveals the inner workings of the subcultures behind the making, interpreting, buying and selling of contemporary art. Thornton is also the author of Club Cultures: Music, Media and Subcultural Capital (Dai Club ai Rave). Both books are published by Feltrinelli. Thornton is the chief writer on contemporary art for The Economist and contributes to a variety of other media including the BBC, NPR radio, ZDF television, Sueddeutsche Zeitung, The Sunday Times Magazine and Artforum.com. She is a Canadian with a BA in Art History and a PhD in the Sociology. She lives in London.
