OPERE/works will not only be an occasion to discover the message of artworks thanks to the words of the opinion leaders, but also an opportunity to know more about the life of artworks from their conception until they meet museums, visitors and private and public collections.
"The life of artworks" series will involve museums directors, collectors and scholars, inviting them to discuss what happens when an artwork goes out from the artist’s studio.
The relatioship between artwork and museum, the emotional and strategic meaning of the word “collecting”, the challenge between the economic and the symbolic value of an artwork will be the main issues of this series.
Marina Pugliese, who is the author of the book Monumenti Effimeri together with Barbara Ferriani (published by Electa) will meet Bruno Arciprete and Marco Carminati to discuss conservation techniques in the modern and contemporary age. Miwon Kwon and Lynne Cooke will speak about curatorial practices, discussing site specificity and what it means to organize a solo show of an important artist. Sarah Thornton, Giuliana Setari, Giacinto di Pietrantonio and Silvia Evangelisti will speak with Pier Luigi Sacco about the relationship between artworks, collections and markets.
