The festival of Contemporary art was founded in response to the need for an area of reflection and debate regarding art.
In spite of the increasingly intense growth of opportunities which we all have to come into contact with art, whether we work in the sector or not, there was nothing which provided the opportunity to stop and think, during a break in the calendar of exhibitions, trade shows and biennials, dedicated to the understanding of the content, ideas, messages and interpretations that the world of art offers us every day.
This idea was welcomed by the city of Faenza, which willingly accepted the challenge of becoming an international meeting place for contemporary art, which has transformed into a community, as a platform for new ideas and projects which are open to everything contemporary.
Above all the festival is a place where the contemporary art system – artists, curators, museum and biennial directors and gallery owners – has the opportunity to meet and express their thoughts. At the same time, the general public has the chance to understand art and its very deepest meaning.
This community is open to everyone who believes that contemporary art and culture can play a significant role in our lives, in society, and in the construction of our future.
It shows how a local project can become the “centre” of the map of contemporary creativity, if, like the city of Faenza, it believes in the possibility of transforming itself into a continuous workshop of innovation and creativity.
Today, the magenta C symbol does not only represent the festival, but the entire platform of ideas and projects regarding everything contemporary, developed around a common identity. This has grown thanks to the fans and followers that the festival has obtained, in only two years, among some of the most important figures from the international world of contemporary art, and among the general public, with particular popularity among young people.
