In order to celebrate OPERE/works, the third edition of the festival of Contemporary art (Faenza, 21- 23 May 2010), the Cshirt has been introduced, a line of contemporary t-shirts featuring the C symbol interpreted by important artists. The Cshirts are wearable works of art for anyone who shares the festival of Contemporary art’s passion for art and loves expressing themselves and learning more about contemporary culture.
The project has been established thanks to the partnership between the festival of Contemporary art, a key event in the contemporary art calendar for reflecting on the art of today and YOOX.COM, the world’s top virtual boutique, which brings together many different forms of contemporary creativity.
The first Cshirt, will be presented at the third edition of the festival of Contemporary art. It will be designed by Pascale Marthine Tayou, a Cameroonian artist who lives and works in Ghent, Belgium. He has taken part in some of most recent important International exhibitions, including Altermodern in 2009, the 4th Tate Britain Triennial curated by Nicolas Bourriaud and the 53rd Venice Biennale. At the Biennale, as part of the exhibition Fare Mondi/Making Worlds curated by Daniel Birnbaum, he created a real global village in the middle of the Arsenale exhibition space.
Two editions of the Cshirt will be produced: a limited edition available exclusively online from YOOX.COM and another edition which will be available for the first time during the festival of Contemporary art, and then at other events involving art and creativity, including all the C events both in Italy and abroad.
We would like to thank Galleria Continua San Gimignano/Beijing/Le Moulin.
