The theme of the patronage is certainly very interesting to talk about, especially when perfectly in line with the contemporary world that we live daily. Often, in fact, one wonders about those non-conventional and innovative projects which are increasingly investing artists of our century.
What are the needs of the new patronage? What is the need of art expressed in these requests? What are the most innovative projects? The festival will try to give answers at these questions.
The first meeting takes place on Friday 20 May: Marco Cammelli, the President of the Fondazione del Monte of Bologna and Ravenna and Rosina Gómez-Baeza Tinturé, the director of Laboral – Centro de Arte y Creacion Industrial, in a debate chaired by Pier Luigi Sacco will discuss the relationship between local areas, the safeguarding of heritage and contemporary research.
The second meeting in on Saturday 21 May. Pier Luigi Sacco will discuss with Hedwig Fijen, the director of the Manifesta International Foundation, Christiane Hellmanzik (University of Hamburg) and Mary Jane Jacob (School of the Art Institute of Chicago) how does the figure of the artist is changed, depending on the area, global dimension and public art.
The third meeting take place on Sunday, 22 May, and it will be a journey into the creative worlds of Italian contemporary business. Pier Luigi Sacco will lead the debate between Carlo Bach, the artistic director of illycaffè, Marcello Smarrelli, the artistic director of the Ermanno Casoli Foundation, and the entrepreneur Giovanni Bonotto.
What patronage is there for young artists? We will hear about four important Italian and international experiences. Angela Vettese, the President of the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, Patrizia Brusarosco, the President of Viafarini, Nicoletta Fiorucci, the founder of the Fiorucci Art Trust, and Alberto Garutti, an artist and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, will talk about four residence models for young artists, in this discussion chaired by the journalist Alessandra Mammì.
On the same day, Radio3 mediapartner of the festival, will organise a round table meeting dedicated to new forms of patronage and collecting. The discussion, featuring Dora Stiefenmeier and Mario Pieroni, from Zerynthia, the curatorial collective "a.titolo" and Maria Alicata, the Adriano Olivetti Foundation, and the journalist and art critic Elena Del Drago who will take us to places where art has never been before.
