Here are the meetings with contemporary arts and its protagonists of the last day, Sunday 22 May.
Sunday, May 22: The last day of the festival opens at 10 at the MIC with a panel discussion on collecting in Italy, moderated by Ludovico Pratesi. The topic will be addressed from many points of view, the artist, with Alfredo Pirri who is known for his research in areas not common for all clients, the foundation of contemporary art, represented by Maurizio Morra Greco, president of the Namesake foundation, and the museum's audience, when the promoter is an important collection of contemporary art: the panel will discuss the Rivoli Castle, with an interview for the co-director Beatrice Merz.
Nearby at the cinema Sarti, the discussion turns to artists with the first dedicated to Claudio Parmiggiani. The meeting, led by the curator Milovan Farronato, allows us to retrace the artist's work and his recent projects at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Republic of Cuba), entitled 'Silence at Voz Alta' (2006) commissioned by the Director of Cultural Heritage of the CEI, at the Vatican.
In honor of this fourth edition of the festival, Teatro Masini present the first in a series of tributes to important figures of the art. At 11, Achille Bonito Oliva will open this presentation, recounted by significant figures in the international contemporary art scene.
At 12 Faenza stars in a meeting organized by the MIC: Claudia Casali, Director of the International Ceramics Museum in Faenza will guide the audience through stories of patronage and collectors in Faenza, along with art historian Marcella Vitali, Carmen Ravanelli Guidotti, Curator of MIC's retrospective collections, Matteo Zauli, director of the Carlo Zauli Museum, Ennio Nonni, architect and manager of the Territory Sector for the city of Faenza.
At the same hour, the festival moves to Piazza Molinella, where young artists are the protagonists in a discussion with Angela Vettese, President of the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Patrizia Brusarosco, President of Viafarini, Nicoletta Fiorucci, President of the Fiorucci Art Trust, and Alberto Garutti, artist and lecturer at the Accademia di Brera. This panel discussion will be moderated by journalist Alessandra Mammi, who will recount three models of residency for emerging talent.
Returning to museums, at 12.30 pm in the Teatro Masini, Carlos Basualdo will interview Frances Morris, head of international collections at the Tate Modern in London. The Tate, a "museum of museums" confronts the theme of collecting, the strategies and objectives, among other issues, will be analysed concerning one of the most important museums in the world .
At the Museo Carlo Zauli, also at 12.30, a discussion of the new commissions coming from creative industries and their art projects with a debate between Giovanni Bonotto, Carlo Bach, illy, Marcello Smarrelli, director of the Ermanno Casoli Foundation, and moderated by Pier Luigi Sacco.
The festival will recommence at 15:00 with words of the artist, Hans Ulrich Obrist, co-director of the Serpentine Gallery in London. He returns to Faenza to interview Gianfranco Baruchello, one of the most important spectators of art history, both Italian and international.
At 15:00 in the MIC, the theme revolves around "new patronage", new scenarios for works of art approached from a different perspective of Radio 3, the festival's media partner, in a panel discussion coordinated by Elena Del Drago, involving Dora Stiefenmeier and Mario Pieroni of Zerynthia, Maria Alicata, from the Olivetti Foundation and the curatorial collective a.titolo.
The grand finale will be in the Teatro Masini at 16.00, with artist Joseph Kosuth, one of the undisputed masters of the international scene. Angela Vettese leads us to the heart of his research, with the motto: art as idea as idea is now, concluding at 17:00, with the board directors exploring the theme for next year.
