Collecting/Contemporary in Faenza

|

How does relationship between atists and collectors begin? How is an art collection made? What does it mean to share their private passion with the public? These questions will be answered in the collecting/contemporary series that will present some of the best practices from Italian and International collecting in Faenza.

In Italy there are a lot of experiences that show that our country has a rich cultural heritage. Private heritage plays an important role, as well as public experiences. These experiences will be discussed at a round table meeting on Saturday 21 May with Angela Vettese and Angela and Massimo Lauro, presidents of Giardino dei Lauri, in Città della Pieve, Giuseppe Iannaccone, a member of ACACIA and Giorgio Fasol, whose collection was exhibited at MART in Trento and Rovereto during the show Linguaggi e sperimentazioni. Together with Angela Vettese, they will discus what it means to pass from the private to the collective dimension of the art experience.

On the same day the art critic Eleonora Charans will interview Egidio Marzona, one of the key figures of international collecting. His international collection, that combines Conceptual Art, Minimalism, Land Art and Arte Povera, was bought in 2002 by the Staatliche Museen Zu Berlin, that now manages the collection.

On Sunday 22 May, Ludovico Pratesi will lead the public in a debate about the theme of collecting. He will analyze different points of view, and focus particular attention on the artist. In this debate Alfredo Pirri, an artist, will talk to Beatrice Merz, the co-director, with Andrea Bellini, of Castello di Rivoli, and Maurizio Morra Greco, the President of the foundation of the same name in Naples.
