The next edition of the festival of Contemporary art will be called Art n' Performance and will take place from 18 to 20 May, celebrating its fifth birthday in 2012.
After the positive results of Forms of collecting/ Forme della committenza, the fourth edition which recently came to an end, which focused on the relationship between culture and its patrons, at a time when the ways of producing and collecting art are undergoing a dramatic transformation, the scientific committee (Angela Vettese, Carlos Basualdo and Pier Luigi Sacco) have chosen another hot topic from the contemporary debate for the next edition of the festival.
It is increasingly clear that the art of today, even in its more "tangible" varieties with visible object works, is strongly influenced by the art-making process. The idea of the art-making process, of movement, in which not only art is created, but also many other forms of communication linked to contemporary culture, means that the visual arts have an increasing impact on our daily lives.
With this theme, the festival of Contemporary art aims to celebrate the increasingly frequent, lively encounters between the visual arts and other forms of performance, from music, to theatre, to dance.
Important international guests will add to the debate, in particular the artists whose work crosses these boundaries between different forms of art. They will be joined by curators, teachers and thinkers concerning the contemporary debate, as in the previous editions of the festival. There will also be considerable focus on young people and the world of schools and universities involved in training in this field, and representatives from this group of people will be invited to discuss their experience.
