To what extent does the management model of a public museum affect its scientific activity? What are the possibilities and restrictions when it comes to creating a museum collection? How can the role and meaning of museum collecting today be redefined? To what extent does all this affect the museum's relationship with the local area? Representatives from a public museum, a local museum and a contemporary art centre will discuss the strategies, limits and opportunities for public institutions dedicated to contemporary art in Italy. We will hear from Andrea Bruciati, the artistic director of the GC.AC Galleria Comunale d'arte in Monfalcone, Giacinto Di Pietrantonio, the director of the GAMeC in Bergamo and Angela Rorro from the GNAM in Rome.
